I’m a Welsh singer songwriter, composer and sound artist from Barry. From 2021-2022 I have been able to compose and record a piece for the Marvin String Quartet with Ty Cerdd’s CoDI DIY for my song ‘Mynyddoedd’ inspired by the South Wales landscapes which was featured on the Adam Walton show on BBC Introducing.
As a composer I am always interested in working with new materials and creating different soundscapes and textures as I feel this is the best way for me to become more versatile in my practice. For that reason I benefited a lot from working with a variety of talented (traditional and non) musicians on a series of retreats with CoDI Self. This resulted in a piece that I learnt how to produce and balance between the other musicians, then finalizing the bilingual piece ‘Ar Fy Ffordd’ with EÄDYTH and Joseff Gnagbo that was released last month. That project has added to my confidence in producing and collaborating in the future, a huge leap from my bedroom album release ‘Herding Cats’ in 2020.
