ABOUT

First launched in 2008, Leicester post-metal / prog rockers Final Coil have built an impressive name for themselves. The band came to wider attention with their 2016 debut album, recorded over the period of a month in Italy and released via international label WormHoleDeath. Titled Persistence of Memory, it showcased an ethereal sound that paved the way for the harder edged, more progressive follow up - The World We Inherited.

The second album to be released via WormHoleDeath (a collaboration that also yielded the Convicted of the Right and Somnambulant EPs), The World We Left Behind For Others not only received some 40 reviews from around the world, but it also caught the ear of famed producer Russ Russell (Napalm Death, Amorphis, Dimmu Borgir), who signed on to produce the band's third album.

The most ambitious work to date, The World We Inherited rounded out the Persistence trilogy, garnering acclaim and making its mark across a number of album of the year listings. Initially released via Sliptrick Records, the album helped Final Coil to find their feet once more, having overcome the challenges of Covid and the ensuing lockdowns.

As a result, 2024 was an intensely productive year for the band. A pair of album launches (in London and Leicester), a short tour with Teiger, and the band's debut appearance at Bloodstock festival all helped to generate momentum, while a short tour of France and Belgium concluded the year, the highlight being an intense, sold-out show in Paris.

2025 was no less significant. The band toured alongside Lodestar (featuring members of Senser), Teiger, and prog luminaries Hats Off Gentlemen It's Adequate, played in support of the legendary Amplifier at Fusion Festival and, towards the end of the year, re-released The World We Inherited on vinyl, complete with a launch show in London.

2026 starts on a positive note. The band already have a new EP recorded with special guest drummer Graham Hopkins (ex-Therapy?), and will be returning to the famed Parlour Studios for a new album, with studio legend Russ Russell once more at the helm. With live dates already in the works, 2026 looks set to see the band take another leap forward.
