Lead Guitar.ABOUT
If you think the album cover of ‘Rubber Soul’ should be permanently projected on the side of the House of Commons. If you think that Paul Weller could sort out most of the problems in the Middle East with a fag, a couple of pints of Stella and a quick jam of ‘Woodcutter’s Son’. If you think that Ronnie Lane isn’t dead, but has just returned to a galaxy far, far way to play bass in John Lennon’s Oompah Band. If you think that music was better before it got too hairy and introspective. We Want You.
‘Mojo' are a new band (made up from members of local 'name' bands) that encapsulate the best elements of music from the 1960’s with it’s contemporary counterparts. That is, (in no particular order) The Beatles, Badfinger, The Who, The Small Faces, Paul Weller, The Byrds, Oasis, The Stone Roses, Beady Eye, The Kinks, Ocean Colour Scene, Noel Gallagher, Early ‘Stones, The Charlatans, Motown, Stax. i.e. The good stuff. For want of a better term ‘Power Pop’.
We’ll be playing sweaty clubs for not a lot of money and functions for a sh*tload of money. Full P.A., lights, crew and management provided. All you will have to do is concentrate on putting on the best possible show. We’ll be basing our gigs within a 30 mile radius of Leeds/York and expect to be gigging 6-8 times per month. The band will have a definite look, so moptops are preferable, but not a deal-breaker. The ultimate plan is to progress to bigger and better things (however they may manifest themselves) and not be stuck on a circuit. Enthusiasm, positivity, a sense of humour and being open to ideas are a must, as is having a common musical taste. If you actively dislike the type more than a couple of bands/music listed above, you won’t fit in.
You equipment should ideally have the names Marshall, Vox, Fender, Gibson, Rickenbacker, Orange, Ludwig, Gretsch or Epiphone written on it. This would be an example of a setlist:
