Enya Sophya - She
Enya Sophya - She'She' is one of the tracks of the 5 songs I have written as part of my first EP, which is yet to be released. All songs have been recording by my colleague and friend Tasha Caesar who also plays the bass in this track. For this EP 'Passing Through', I wanted to keep it very connected to its roots and energy. Also, I did not want to be influenced by any external pressure or comparison. To make sure this did not happen, I decided to make this project come true by only collaborating with Tasha Caesar as the producer and mixing engineer of this EP. All songs tell a story, some are more a reflection (we are the observer) others, we feel we are more in movement (in action). In the song 'She' we are more like the picture selected - contemplating what happened and what is happening at this right moment.

The Meeting of the Waters (Original Violin Solo composition)
The Meeting of the Waters (Original Violin Solo composition)Meeting of the Waters is a solo piece for Violin inspired by Jo Shapcott’s poem Forescast (2010). In addition, after analysing carefully the poem I decided to relate it with the natural phenomenon Encontro das Águas (Meeting of the waters). This is the confluence between the Rio Negro, a river with dark water, and the sandy-coloured Amazon River or Rio Solimões. The two rivers’s waters run side by side without mixing, due to the differences in temperature, speed and water density. POEM: Forecast (2010) by Jo Shapcott A cloud sat on the hill August Until the sun was a ghost memory And the fields were full of water, the ground an unlicked sponge, When the sun came beat her head Against her unfamiliar shadow On the wall, her voice, but not her voice, Chanting over and over, ‘It’s a sad child That destroys its own weather’. A special thanks to Rock Lee (Violinist), for his support, time and expression

'Here' (Original- PIANO & VOICE)
'Here' (Original- PIANO & VOICE)I believe Music is not always about mastering, or achieving the ideal original and commercial track. Sometimes you just create. And as in life, creation is not always beautiful specially if we compare it to the 'standards'. So yes, without going too deep in this philosophical discussion, here it is :) I am sharing it with you all because one day I created it, the other day I wrote it, and at some point I sang it differently. Again, this is not supposed to sound 'beautifully controlled', instead I hope it sounds raw, simple, but still musical.

Cycle (Improvisation- Enya Sophya)
Cycle (Improvisation- Enya Sophya)In January, on a cold day when I actually had a sore throat I did my usual practice routine (singing) and finished with some improvisation. Here it is: that day at that moment the improvisation was this - Cycle. I'm particularly fascinated about the idea of creating in the moment. I hope you enjoy its simplicity. Have a wonderful Sunday!

Verlassen (Arnold Schoenberg)- Enya Sophya
Verlassen (Arnold Schoenberg)- Enya SophyaOn the 10th of March 2013 at 7:30 pm I had the wonderful opportunity to participate in the Royal Holloway Chamber Music Competition with two challenging pieces: Verlassen (Forsaken) by Arnold Schoenberg and Ne Poy Krasavitsa Pri mne (Do not sing to me, beautiful maiden) by Sergei Rachmaninov. First and foremost, special thanks to Theodora Wong for all her commitment and support! I hope we can perform together again :) and also special thanks to my close friends and family who patiently believed in me and my vocal and musical abilities. But I must give a heartfelt 'THANK YOU' to my dearest singing teacher- for her persistence, discipline, and friendship. Thank you SO much!

Porgi Amor by Wolfgang A. Mozart
Porgi Amor by Wolfgang A. Mozartfrom Act II of the Italian opera Le Nozze di Figaro by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart Libretto: Lorenzo da Ponte The Countess laments that the Count has lost his love for her. Text/ Translation: Porgi, amor, qualche ristoro, O Love, give me some remedy Al mio duolo, a'miei sospir! For my sorrow, for my sighs! O mi rendi il mio tesoro, Either give me back my darling O mi lascia almen morir. Or at least let me die.

'Ne poy, krasavitsa’(Don't sing to me my beauty) by Rachmaninov
'Ne poy, krasavitsa’(Don't sing to me my beauty) by RachmaninovIn 1820, having written some anti-establishment political poems and epigrams, Pushkin found himself banished to the Ukraine and the Crimea. It was a bitter-sweet exile; he loved the southern landscapes and people, and had several stormy love-affairs. In this poem he looks back to those years with nostalgia. (‘The songs of Georgia’, he later wrote, ‘are mostly doleful, but quite pleasant...’) Sergei Rachmaninov is mainly known for his symphonies, piano concertos and the Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini, but he also wrote over 70 songs to Russian texts; this must surely be the most heart-wrenchingly beautiful of them.

L'invitation au Voyage (by Henri Duparc)
L'invitation au Voyage (by Henri Duparc)Henri Duparc was, with Berlioz and Fauré, among the pioneers of la mélodie (the French art song, as distinguished from folk song). His career was remarkable in that although he lived for 85 years, his reputation rests on barely more than a dozen songs. “L’Invitation au voyage” takes for its text the famous Baudelaire poem of the same title. The poet’s dream world steeped in drugs, the atmosphere suffused with orientalism, and the imaginary voyage of the mind, were captured to perfection by Duparc in this masterpiece of ambiguous harmonies, unstable rhythms, sensuous imagery and vague meaning.

Detectorists (cover- Johnny Flynn)Apart from my Classical Repertoire as a singer, I also sincerely enjoy performing acoustics such as this one (Detectorists by Johnny Flynn). Although this is just a rehearsal recording with no effects or anything of that nature, I decided to share with you all. I hope you enjoy it and feel free to suggest other covers or give feedback. Many thanks to Jed McInnes for playing with me :)

All is reality of your choice (Original Song)
All is reality of your choice (Original Song)All is Reality of Your Choice' is an original song for guitar and voice, which I composed in partnership with the guitarrist and composer Costa. This recording is from the early stages of our rehearsals, but it is pretty much what the music sounds like as a final work. A better sound quality recording will be soon available. I hope you enjoy it and feel free to share your opinion :)

Dream Into Tears (My composition, not singing performance)
Dream Into Tears (My composition, not singing performance)Dream Into Tears takes as its starting point the psychological term ‘Altered states of consciousness’. In addition, this piece was influenced by The Tree of Life (1928), which was painted by the self-taught French artist Séraphine Louis (1864–1942), who was admitted for chronic psychosis at Clermont’s lunatic asylum. By having these two inspirational resources, I decided to write the poem I use in this composition, mainly in relation to confusion and various states of mind. More specifically, this piece draws attention to the mental state of confusion, tiredness, and disillusion. Furthermore, apart from depicting varied states of consciousness, this musical work also relies in the essence of life- acceptance, which is significantly depicted on the intensive colours that comprise the painting The Tree of Life.

No man is an Island- for String-Quartet (MIDI File- unfortunately is Sibelius)
No man is an Island- for String-Quartet (MIDI File- unfortunately is Sibelius)'No Man is an Island' takes as its starting point the ideology of loneliness in urban cultures, where most individuals, when surrounded by a significant amount of people, feel a particular physical and psychological feeling of loneliness, sometimes stronger than when such individuals are theoretically alone. Such simple source of inspiration is developed throughout this musical work by showing different levels of stylistic material and by exploration various contrasting musical ideas, which as a result creates a range of effective textures that aim to illustrate the moment when a human being is in a crowd but feels ironically alone. In terms of performing this piece, there should be a specific care and attention towards the dynamic variations, and the changes from Pizz. to arco and vice versa should be as precise as possible. Although there are tempo indications, such parameter can be broadly chosen by the players.
