Influences
“Doll in the Cupboard” came to life during an adventure Yvette Louise Melech had when she was suddenly stuck on a Caribbean Island due to an unfortunate weather event. Initially, Yvette was on her way to New York City to meet with other creative friends. Suddenly a hurricane required Yvette Louise to reshuffle her itinerary fast. Her travel agent advised her to head to a Caribbean Island to wait for the hurricane to subside. The love of her life resided on the island of Grand Cayman. Upon shuffling her plans Yvette’s love affair tumbled as her lover became ill and was hospitalised. Yvette Louise herself had to undergo a series of ear operations on island as when swimming she discovered an ear tumour.
Post-operation she was unable to fly, and her youngest son was stranded with her. Obtaining the London school headmistress' permission to continue her son’s educational requirements on island Yvette Louise turned her life into a positive adventure. Making the most out of the unexpected. Her art company also came crashing down in London since she could not visit. Yvette Louise put her son in a diving class to get his Padi Diving qualification while she endured the skilful surgeon’s knife and was wrapped up in ear bandages.
Yvette's lover pulled through his illness with newfound strength. A new ship of life was ready to set sail - creativity during catastrophe brings forth beautiful new beginnings when we challenge ourselves. May love continue to shine as love’s always under a palm tree, as Is the beautiful gift of poetry some of us are blessed to receive from God’s grace. Yvette, as “Doll in the Cupboard” is in the early seeds of creating a new platform in the art world using her poetic gift.
