ABOUT

Exploding out of the leftfield scene that gave rise to Biffy Clyro and Hundred Reasons, Digits are authentic outsider-rock with one ear firmly on the melody. Having completely brushed off the ashes of their former incarnation, Cut Glass Accent, Digits continue to deliver bold, proggy alt-rock that's as intricate as it is heavy. "With Digits I think the idea was to keep a much more focused sound," explains bass player Stu Latham. "Appealing to more of a niche of listeners as opposed to trying to have a song to please everyone. The sound is generally much heavier, much less traditional than the majority of bands on the scene today."

Impressing fans and critics alike with their incendiary debut EP, 'Acquiesce To Violence', Digits have chiselled a unique style out of their hard-edged influences. "For 'Acquiesce To Violence' we had a blank slate and we looked at the bands we liked in order to create OUR style," Bradley reveals. "While that allowed us to cherry pick the bits we liked from our favourite bands, it meant that reviewers and fans of one particular band would try to liken us to the band they were familiar with. Now, instead of asking ourselves what would Reuben, Deftones or Hundred Reasons do, we’re asking does this sound like Digits?"

With a clear vision of where they're headed, Digits have certainly found their forte. Determined from the onset that they would all pull in the same direction, the band continues to deal in razor-sharp riffs that cut right through the soft underbelly of the mainstream. "We’ve tried to stay pretty true to the idea of making interesting music, the sort that we’d like to listen to, as opposed to writing poppy songs to try and please as many people as possible," says Latham. "When writing songs we consciously sit down and decide whether or not ideas and tunes fit with our overall vision. People often compare us to bands like Reuben and Hundred Reasons and we couldn't be more proud!"
Nursing a string of injuries from a year of heavy gigging, Digits are nevertheless looking forward to getting back on the road, with former Layne drummer and new arrival, Matt Hickman, in latter 2014 and early 2015. "We're probably getting more durable as we keep getting injured," Latham jokes. "Craig cut off half a thumb at the end of 2013, Chris pulled the ligaments in his ankles and I played a number of gigs with a badly injured back. We still think we put on a pretty good show though!"

Whilst the band has shrugged off injury related setbacks that have delayed the release of their upcoming EP, Footprints and Embers, there has been one casualty along the way. "Sadly we stalled at the beginning of 2014 due to an ongoing problem with Dan's (ex-drummer) wrist." Bradley explains of the recent setback, "Whilst we did manage to get the new EP finished in the studio, Dan was told by the doctors he either had to stop drumming or risk severe complications with his wrist and hand in the future. With every cloud though comes a silver lining, and Matt fits in pretty well with the rest of us in playing style and mentality, whilst Dan is still involved in some capacity with what we're doing. So we're all trying to stay on the positive side of things, and look to the future".

With shows that include support slots for Jackass star Bam Margera, Feed The Rhino and Marmozets under their belts, tracks on the cover CDs of Rocksound and Big Cheese magazines, and a festival slot at Make A Scene Festival, featuring the likes of Funeral For A Friend, The Blackout and Hacktivist it's starting to look like the mileage has been worth it. "Interest is building in us and we’re starting to finally make a dent within the industry," Bradley concludes. "The hope is to just keep us in the public eye and up our profile enough to get onto a couple of the bigger festivals.
