Influences
Desi Live Bhangra Fusion Group draws inspiration from the golden era of British Bhangra, particularly the groundbreaking music of Heera, Kalapreet and Holle Holle. A major influence on our sound is Deepak Khazanchi, the legendary producer, composer and musical director whose work helped define and shape the success of these iconic acts. Through his innovative fusion of traditional Punjabi folk melodies with modern Western instrumentation, Khazanchi created a distinctive sound that became the foundation of UK Bhangra music.
Our performances reflect the energy, musicianship and creativity pioneered by Heera, Kalapreet and Holle Holle, while embracing the musical vision that Deepak Khazanchi brought to these influential recordings. These inspirations continue to guide our blend of live Bhangra, folk, pop, rock and contemporary fusion music.
