ABOUT

I'm a relatively new musician. I've been playing bass for 2 years (mostly practicing in my room) and is completely self taught.

I am a big fan of Motorhead which has played a big role in my development in a player. I play bass a lot like Lemmy in that my style is more rhythm guitar than bass and is of course very loud and distorted.
I played this way before I became a fan of Motorhead, the only difference is that I only began using distortion when I learned it was actually possible without using effects.

I'm also a fan of a large amount of other genres such as punk as well as post-punk.
I distinguished myself as being a good punk singer while in college so I'd be up for doing punk vocals.
I also love Joy Division who's Peter Hook inspired to pick up the bass, so I'd be interested in doing something on those lines.
My voice is very similar to Ian Curtis', and if its any bonus I can do a pretty good impersonation of his dancing which I pulled off in a cover of New Dawn Fades with my old band.
I also often write lyrics so I can be counted on to provide lyrics.

My best qualities as a musician is that I have a good sense of rhythm, can play by ear very well and I am open minded.
My playing admittedly can be a little rough at times but I practice often and after two years I have only seen continuous improvement.
I can play bass normally but I find that my creative spark is in using the bass as a deep rhythm guitar with distortion. I have tried guitar but it doesn't feel right and I much prefer the feel of the bass.
I also only play with a pick as I find using fingers very uncomfortable, which is exacerbated by the fact that I play an old Rick copy which are well known for being uncomfortable for playing with fingers.

Also of note I lack personal transportation and live in a very rural location so I may have difficulties with getting to certain places.
I know will deter my chances of getting into a band but I feel I ought to make a note of it.
