In the last 12 months, politicians in the UK and US have called trans and non-binary people demons, an epidemic and called for their eradication. It is this dark, violent and aggressive world that gave birth to Daughter, a one-woman black metal project built upon the trans experience.
Daughter combines the oppressive and uncompromising emotional impact of bands such as Lifelover, the atmospheric and bleak post-black sound of Wolves in the Throne Room and the raw and chaotic riffs of Darkthrone and Gorgoroth.
Lyrically, the project covers the emotional spectrum of being a trans+ person in a world that wants nothing more than your destruction. Equal parts hate and hope, Daughter creates bleak, misanthropic music that forces itself into your brain.
The debut EP “Silhouettes” is a chaotic and dissonant symphony of resilience and courage against a society that not only turns a deaf ear to LGBTQIA+ rights, but is often actively attacking both rights and lives.
