Voodoo Child are one of Essex's most popular Covers Bands, and are based in Colchester. At the end of July our Front Man is leaving the band, and so we are looking for a new band member to come in, fill his big shoes, and really lead us from the front!!!
We are a busy rock covers bands with 2013 almost fully booked up, and averaging 50-60 gigs per year all over Essex and Suffolk. We play regular gigs in Colchester, Chelmsford, Ipswich, Southend, Sudbury, Braintree and various other locations across the region, mostly in pubs, but with a few private parties and Weddings thrown in. We rehearse once a week in Colchester (free rehearsal facilities).
Our current singer is happy to carry on gigging until the end of July, and then we have a 7 week break for our summer holidays and our drummers wedding/honeymoon, so there is a nice big 7 week window for our new guy to learn our set list, before we return to gigging in the 3rd week of September.
In the meantime we are keen to get our new singer on board, so he can come to a few rehearsals and gigs, and integrate into the band before the end of July, just so he can be settled into the group before we drop him in at the deep end gigging in September.
Our age range is 29-43, so anywhere within that kind of bracket will be perfect!!
You will need to be committed to a busy gig diary, happy to rehearse once a week, and obviously be a great singer, with good stage presence and an ability to entertain! We need someone that has a big set of lungs on him, can belt out 38 popular rock songs a night, and be able to communicate with the crowd and have a bit of banter!! The most important criteria though is to just be up for a laugh, hanging out with a group of bandmates, performing great music and having a great time!! We don't take ourselves too seriously and have no ideas above our station. We're not looking for record deals or anything like that. We just want to hang out at the weekends, entertaining the pub crowds, having a great time and earning a bit of beer money while we're at it!!
