Wayne Alex Brooks, a.k.a. Daddy "Roots", cited Rasta in the womb and was born on April 23, 1977 in North Valley, Anguilla, British West Indies The youngest of fifteen children in his family, Roots was unlike any of his brothers and sisters by adhering to a strict diet of “ital' pure and natural foods as a youth growing up in this Caribbean nation of 10,000 inhabitants. Roots left school at an early age because he wasn't learning much from it. His best education in life came from the day-to day living in the streets of Anguilla. Roots elaborates: "Nothing comes to you on a platter unless you have a certain position in society. If you are the underdog, you don't get anything and have to fight for everything."

Roots started to play drums and writing songs to the delight of those who witnessed this bright new star in action. People began to take notice of Roots' ability and he was asked to appear at Anguilla's biggest international festival---Moonsplash. Performing live with the likes of Freddie McGregor, Tony Rebel, Third World and many other Reggae legends, Roots has earned much respect throughout the Caribbean for his strong vocal range and stage presence.

Hailing the late, great and sometimes militant Peter Tosh as a major influence, Roots believes that he can carry on with the fallen Reggae icon's message of peace and equality for all of humanity. In 2005, prophecy would be fulfilled as Daddy Roots was selected amongst hundreds of submissions for the Peter Tosh Tribute Album with his contribution of the Tosh-classic "Where You Gonna Run".

Roots' religion is love and his reaction to anger and hatred is to walk away with love in his heart and a smile on his face. Roots believes that around the corner of depression lies hope and his songs titles including "Love And Honor", "I Am At Peace With Myself", "Walk Away From War", and "Moving On" express his philosophy of peace and harmony for everyone.

In June 2002, , Roots embarked on his first North American tour with his first album “Love and Honor” spreading his message of love, honor and respect from California to Texas and through on to Missouri, Indiana, Illinois, Michigan, Wisconsin and Arkansas. Radio deejays loved him when they saw him perform live and Roots was invited back by promoters again to tour the festival, club and college circuit later that year and 2003-2004. Some tour highlights included festival appearances at Indiana's Kneadmore Reggae with Toots and the Maytals, John Brown Body and headlining Kalamazoo, Michigan's Island Fest.

You can see Daddy Roots in two international television appearances including Travel Channel's "Best Beaches 2005" segment and NBC's "Today Show special on Anguilla" (November, 2004)

Recently Daddy Roots' song, "Magar Goat", was selected to be featured in the movie "Broken Flowers" starring Bill Murray, Sharon Stone and Jessica Lange, a major film produced by Focus Features. He also has a song, "It's All Good" on the soundtrack of "Rastafarian Dreaming" documentary, an independent film produced in Toronto, Canada.

For a good part of 2004 and 2005, Daddy Roots has been working diligently in producing a new cutting-edge album complete with horn arrangements featuring the likes of Wailers/Steel Pulse producer Karl Pitterson, up-and-coming St. Maarten producer Connis Vanterpool and West Coast deejay/producer extraordinaire Peter "Peas" McEvilley.

In July 2005, Daddy Roots went to Ghana, Africa upon the invitation of Panafest to perform as well as
“MAMA AFRICA AKWAABA(welcomes) DADDY ROOTS“ tour to surrounding cities.
