ABOUT

I've been drumming since the 1960s and I've played most genres. However, I'm tired of the same old stuff and I'd like to go back to playing proper Soul music, Country Music, West Coast music or older-style Pop. I also love instrumentals from the 1960s - The Shadows, The Dakotas, Unit 4+2, Spotniks etc.

My first band played a mixture of pop and 60's tracks. Then we moved into blues/prog rock.

After 3 years full time I left London and played in various function bands. Later I ended up back in the North-East playing in a couple of blues bands.

I took early retirement in 2003 after which I spent time abroad in a tribute/touring band. I also taught drums during that time.

Up till October 2023 I was playing across County Durham in a Soul Band. Now, I just want to play!

Influences

All early soul and most early pop stuff, blues, proper blues, lively country music. The Beatles/Stones to Hendrix..... Hollies to The Shadows. I loved some of the freer stuff of the 70s/. Too many to list.

I love playing but I really don't want to play 'clashy stuff' and I don't really understand the fascination with Metal.
