7shades were originally formed in 2013 to pay tribute to the music of Tim Smith and Cardiacs, by playing all original material that aims to capture some of their unique (and much-missed) spirit. Psychedelic, punk, prog & pop in roughly equal measures, and taking in a wealth of other influences along the way, the end result is a devastatingly energetic live show that should appeal to anyone with a love for unusual music played with conviction by people who really should know better!

Described as “majestically insane”, their debut album “Seven shades (of sh*t)” was a successful fundraiser for Tim Smith – it made around £1,500 initially, and continues to do so as £5 from every CD sale goes to his ongoing care and support.

Some great gigs in their first year included a BBC Introducing session, and a very well-received slot at the ‘From the Pond’ benefit gig in Kingston alongside Redbus Noface & Sterbus.

2016 looks to be an exciting year for the band, with their second album due out in the spring, and gigs already booked to take them around the country and hopefully further afield…
