Based in Christchurch, 3rd Age Syndrome is just me, a singer/guitarist/songwriter with lots of original and covers band experience, but now spending some time performing solo and seeing what I can do with band material when forced to rearrange it for one voice, one acoustic (and a few effects).

Influences
I try to be blind to genres, but if pushed, my own stuff is influenced by melodic guitar pop/rock groups (Big Star, MC5, Jam, XTC), early '70s progressive music (Yes, Genesis, VDGG), Can/Neu type stuff and anything else that moves me. Also partial to Richard Thompson, David Sylvian, PJ Harvey, Warpaint, Television, Joni Mitchell and Laura Marling. Most of what I've written doesn't sound like any of them, though - but that's who helped shape me.
