ABOUT

I am an accomplished saxophonist, having played for 25 years. I am 50, but don't look it, or feel it....! I have been in New Zealand for the last 20 years, now back home in UK. Have played lots in bands, trios, orchestras, theatre, made radio and TV jingles, have recorded commercially for two UK labels (Kingsway and ICC). Teach the sax a lot, something I really enjoy. I am also pretty OK on the bass and keyboards, and can play the drums too. I am not an out and out jazzer, I guess Spyrogyra-type instrumental stuff is vaguely where I am at.

Influences

A hard one to answer. Grew up with Lindisfarne, Genesis, Supertramp, Steely Dan, Doobies, Wishbone Ash, James Taylor, John Mayall, Elton John. Went into highly produced soul music in the 80s/90s, Al Jarreau, Luther V, Geoffrey Osborne, Maze. Getting a bit jazzy by then, Cannonball Adderley, Phil Woods, Paul Desmond, John Coltrane, Getz. Now? Bach, Mozart and James Taylor.
