Hello! My name is Hector McKechnie, a 23 year old student at University College London. I'm a very experienced pianist and singer, with over 14 years of experience performing, taking exams, and playing a wide range of music, from Classical, Romantic, Tributes, Blues, Jazz, and more.
I'm looking to join other musicians out there and start playing. I love performing, and connecting with others through music. If people out there are looking for a male vocalist, someone who can anchor the band's sound through piano, or a bit of both, please get in touch!

Influences
My background is in classical piano and singing, having trained with choral choirs and taken the ABRSM examination route (Grade 8, distinction). I have also performed in jazz bands, including at the Edinburgh Jazz and Blues Festival.
I have a wide range of influences, but here a few of my favourites:
Elvis Presley - his songs have some beautifully-written chord progressions and piano riffs which I love. Plus, his voice range is similar to mine.
ABBA - a combination of fanatically innovative piano parts (particularly Thank You for the Music), and disco rhythm.
Take That - I'm simply a massive fan of their songwriting.
(also a similar vocal range to Gary Barlow).
Chet Baker - my favourite jazz musician, whose chord progressions and melodies are unparalled in my opinion.
Chopin - my all-time favourite classical composer, his nocturnes and waltzes put me in dreamworld! I learned several of his nocturnes over the lockdown period, probably a major reason for why I stayed sane!
Paolo Nutini - clever songwriting and structure (and Scottish, always a bonus for me)

EQUIPMENT
Whilst in London, I use a friend's piano to practice and keep things ticking over. I am saving up for my own keyboard, but cost of living is tough!
