Singer-Songwriter Robby Allen fronts the Kite Collectors. Robby was a founder member of Portsmouth garage rock band the Mild Mannered Janitors who found success in 1989 with their single Dirty Jean. Robby has played in support of some of the finest bands and musicians the UK has produced including: Steve Marriott, the Prisoners, The Prime Movers, The Stone Roses, Wilko Johnson, Inspiral Carpets; Makin Time; the Godfathers; Zoot Money; James Taylor Quartet; the Godfather; Graham Day and the Forefathers; The Headcoates...the list goes on.
Following on from the well-received album ‘Mildred’s Tree’, The Kite Collectors released their second CD on Plastic Pop Records in May 2014 - a mini album titled ‘Icon Paradox’.
In April 2015 they released a CD single on Paisley Records: Glory Days/Eileen of the Wet Dream.
Known for well-crafted songs with a strong lyrical content, the band take their influences from the mod movement, early psychedelia and garage rock. The result is a unique sound that is enhanced by energetic live performances and showmanship, thumping bass, skilled drums and expressive vocals.
The first part of the bands new album provisionally entitled 'Clockface' will be available from March 2016 on Paisley Records.
Currently seeking organist/keyboard player for paid and unpaid gigs and recording second part of Clockface project (release circa Sept 2016). Don't care what age you are...we want someone who enjoys it for the art of the thing.
