ABOUT

I started learning to play the guitar and piano at school and soon after formed a band called Gordon, Ellis & Steel. We played for many years, gigging around north London and Hertfordshire during the 1970's, the highlight being a gig at the Marquee Club in London.

We signed a record deal with Mushroom Records and began recording an album at Chalk Farm Studios in London. Sadly before the album was finished the label and studio ran into financial difficulties and were forced to close. As a result the album was never released.

The band continued gigging for a few more years but eventually we drifted apart. I spent a few more years gigging in the south of France and Majorca until finally taking a break from the music world and starting a family.

In 2017 the original tapes that we made at Chalk Farm were rediscovered and one of our tracks was included on a compilation album called "Spaced Out - The Story of Mushroom Records" and was receiving good reviews.

As a result we decided to release a few more of the songs and after some remastering and overdubbing our album entitled "Looking Forward Thinking Back" was released on 2 March 2018.

A number of tracks have been played on several radio stations both here in the UK and in the US.

I continue to record with my old band mates and long-time collaborators Ross and Chris, and recently released a couple of singles.

I'm always looking to connect with like minded musicians in the country/blues genre: contactthegesband.uk
