ABOUT

The Starling Radicals are a Cardiff-based indie-rock trio influenced by rock, pop, indie, punk, soul and blues. They have had nine drummers, have actually physically fought Morrissey, and released one full album and three EPs, the latest of which – Promiseland Vol 1 (2017) – has received critical acclaim from the likes of Powerplay & Vents Magazine.

Winners of several Battles of the Bands, and veterans of over 150 gigs in just a few years, the group’s live performances have been described as “raw and gritty with energy in abundance” (JD Music), and their recorded output called “a new wave of The Police meets Manic Street Preachers... revelling in variety and creative dexterity” (The Ringmaster Review), and “eloquent, insurrectionary, anthemic rock music” (Adam Walton, BBC).

Notable highlights include shows at Cardiff’s Motorpoint Arena , Glasgow’s Classic Grand for Highway to Hell’s 2014 BOTB final, opening X-Festival 2015 in Cardiff’s Bute Park, the final of Cardiff LMS BOTB 2014 at Clwb Ifor Bach, and a rousing reception at Cardiff University’s Student Union in 2016. Favourited by Tom Robinson for FreshOnTheNet, playlisted by WalesOnline amongst the best new music in Wales, and recipients of generous radio airplay for several singles from the likes of the BBC, Amazing Radio, Meridian FM and Rock Radio, The Starling Radicals are not short of approval.

The band are known for frontman George Toulouse’s distinctive vocals, labelled a “powerful, larynx-shredding rasp” (Hidden Herd), and for their “rambunctious and lively spirit” (Vents) on and off the stage.
