The Patchwork Ensemble.
Hello musicians of the U.K, I would like to tell you about a new project I’m starting and give you an opportunity to be part of it.
I'm setting up a group called The Patchwork Ensemble, which is not a band, but a community of musicians that is focused on promoting new music.
Once a year, every year I would like to release one album and hopefully put on one show along with the help of other musicians.
Each year the album will have a specific theme with musicians contributing their own songs and arrangements.
As I have mentioned I want this to be about promoting new music, so the perfect candidate
would be any musician/producer who is working on their own projects. This will mean that whilst working along side The Patchwork Ensemble (T.P.E) I can promote musicians individual work and continue to do so even after the year is up.
My hope is that eventually this community could grow large enough that new musicians will have an easier time making new contacts that could help them with their own music and vice versa.
Next, a little about myself. My name is Ben, I’m 21, I play several instruments as well as writing my own songs, I would consider myself more of a composer rather than a performer however I’m interested in all area’s of music. It’s also worth mentioning that I’m visually impaired, not because it makes a huge difference but because I want you to know that anyone from any walk of life will be welcome to join. I believe that any kind of discrimination is for ignorant people with low intelligence and it will not be tolerated.
So, now that I’ve explained the general idea of T.P.E I’d like to get down to the specifics of
the first year (2020).
The first years theme is a broad one, issues of the world. This can be any major issue that is affecting society in these troubled times. I previously mentioned discrimination which is something I feel strongly about and have written songs about, other examples may be climate change, politics, gender, homelessness, or anything else you may think of in this area. I have a handful of songs about these kind of subjects but as mentioned this is supposed to be a collaborative effort.
Any instruments/vocal types will be welcome as long as you also have your own music that we can promote, this ensures you will be getting something out of this as this will be the first year money is tight and the real focus is building this community of musical friends.
