UPDATE FOR LOCKDOWN:
We're an established covers band who make a point of covering a wide range of great songs, but avoid too many cliché standards (although we do those too!). Rock, Pop, Dance, 60's to 00's.
We were ready for gigs before lockdown, and had a number booked, but have lost our vocalist, and seek a versatile front man/woman, with energy, who is prepared to work with us during lockdown to learn a set; We would also like to take the time to record some demos (in isolation) - so having the ability to record a clean vocal, to a backing track, would be a real advantage (but not essential).
The aim is to be as ready as we can be once we finally get back gigging.
It's a hard time to be doing this, but if you are in to music, and interested in such a project, we'd love to hear from you.
5 piece Rock/Pop/ covers band seeking to get people up and dancing with popular, well known, but not the same old, covers.
Looking for mature (minded!), committed, easy going lead vocalist who is happy to sing anything, and likes to have fun.
We formed in late 2017, with the aim of playing a wide range of songs, that are popular and familiar, without including just the same old standards.
That’s not to say we don’t play some obvious classics, but we also play a real variety, from 60’s dance, through 70’s rock, 80’s pop, 90’s indie and some modern stuff. Songs that the audience will love, but maybe haven’t heard for a while.
We tend to try and give good value with a couple of longish sets, mixing older / mid tempo songs in the first set, building to high energy crowd pleasers in the second.
We have guitar, bass, keys and drums, and have just lost our male singer who has other commitments. We are keen to find someone, male or female, who will fit in with our mature, but relaxed and ego-free, approach. The Locksmiths is firstly and foremost a fun band to be in, where we try and rehearse 2 to 3 times a month (normally in a studio in Locks Heath), and select songs from a range of genres – including the odd cheesy song. We take the playing seriously and endeavour to learn new songs separately before we get together, and have regularly managed to get a song “gig ready” within a couple of rehearsal sessions. We are all working professionals between 30 and 55. We enjoy banter, and avoid stressy band politics; Expect to get the piss taken if you screw up – but it’s always in good humour. None of us are perfect and we know it. Playing music needs to be a fun hobby, not a chore. We need someone who is looking for the same level of commitment. Serious, but not too serious, and not looking to make this a career.
We have a backlog of great songs we want to do, and need a singer who will front the band, be engaging, fun, and committed We’re looking at around 1 gig every 4 or 5 weeks; We have all gear (PA etc).
