ABOUT

VACANCY for RHYTHM GUITAR with strong BACKING VOCALS for new 70's Function Band.
London Essex Herts

Tangerine Scene are a new semi pro function band comprising older ex-professional musicians from the 70s playing chart hits exactly like the original records from the psychedelic era – 1965 to 1975. We are fronted by an excellent young female singer.

We have just had to let our 2nd guitarist go. We have gigs in the diary ! We aim to take 1 function a month or thereabouts - sometimes two. £500 to £1,500 per engagement.

BUSINESSES PLAN:-
I put the band together from scratch last Christmas. Hand picked all excellent and very experienced players. Four of us are old gits in our late 50s, ex-pro, some of us had record deas back in the day.

Our drummer is 36 and we are fronted by an excellent young female singer recently graduated from the London School of Music. . . . We're nice people, educated, no egos, liberal world views - we get a long and have a laugh.

We have played festivals over the summer and we have gigs in the diary.

We are currently looking for the right agent to start to get more highly paid function work

We aim to do one or two well paid function gigs a month. No more.

VACANCY
We’ve just had to let our 2nd guitar go. We need someone who has good strong harmony vocals and plays accurate rhythm guitar - electric and acoustic (acoustic on more than half of the set . . . Starman, All the Young Dudes, Stuck in the Middle, Waterloo Sunset, etc.)

You should be familiar with and want to play chart hits from between 65 and 75 and will need to learn the Rhythm Guitar parts EXACTLY LIKE THE RECORD.

If you play lead that’s fine but if you don’t that’s also fine. We have an outstanding lead guitarists who replicates the original solos exactly.

The material includes ........ David Bowie, T Rex, Steely Dan, Mott the Hoople, The Small Faces, The Kinks, Stevie Wonder, Free, The Zombies, Santana, Badfinger, Cream, Spencer Davis, Bad Company, Crosby Stills Nash, Jimi Hendrix, The Beatles, Cockney Rebel, Shocking Pink, etc. etc.

Our back line comprises -
Lead Guitar,
Rhythm Guitar (vacancy),
Organ/Piano,
Bass,
Drums,

. . . three of us sing. The the organ player and the rhythm guitarist (now a vacancy) take the lion’s share of the background singing ..... BVs are obviously very important to our particular product.

LOCATION:-
You do not have to be local. Our band comprises people who live across 3 counties.

Rehearsals will be every 2 to 3, weeks, in Waltham Abbey, 1½ mins junction 26 on the M25. Rehearsals will become less frequent once the gigging diary is full and we’re gigging once a month. We have 30 songs and want 40.

Gigs will be weekends but not necessarily local. If at a distance we hire a minibus for next to nothing.

CULTURE:-
We are a down to earth friendly bunch, we laugh a lot, we are old (apart from our girl singer up front) we are very good players (most classically trained and ex pro) and we aim to make a little money playing the music of our teenage years and have fun doing it. We do our homework and turn up to rehearsals knowing the stuff.
