OK, I'm not actively looking to play gigs. I've played too many where the amount of sheer effort, time, travel and late nights that have gone into making them happen simply has not been adequately reflected by what we actually get out of doing it with - usually - so very little return. Not to mention having to move heavy equipment around which has resulted in neck injuries, physiotherapy sessions, etc.
Having said that I wouldn't rule out the occasional live appearance under the right circumstances.
I am, however, very interested in recording, and am always on the lookout for people to work with.
Anyway, below is a biography of sorts, have a read, see what you think. Look up some of the latest videos on YouTube (a crappy broadband connection means they'd take literally all day to upload here).

From Pembrokeshire in south west Wales, Spurious Transients is a band that grew out of the experimental recording project of Gavin Lloyd Wilson, taking musical influences from the worlds of psychedelica, krautrock, jazz, electronica and the avant garde. The name was originally inspired by a recalcitrant drum machine, but can be interpreted in several different ways, e.g. random bursts of noise, or the transient nature of the fluid line-up of the band (with Gavin being the only constant member).
"Portraits Of A Landscape", the first (official) album, was released on CD in November 2014. Influenced by the Welsh countryside in which it was recorded, it was favourably received in reviews with tracks being played on the airwaves and psychedelically-inclined podcasts. It saw industrial and motorik beats combined with Eastern-flavoured drones, soaring EBow guitars and sweeping synths, with several tracks taking on a darker more ambient texture.
For their live appearances in 2015, Spurious Transients evolved into a larger band with a floating line-up and it was a 6-piece version of the band that went into the studio to record the jazzy Herbie Hancock inspired "Planet Cantaloupe" which was released as 7" yellow vinyl single in July 2015. A version of this band, supplemented with vocals and djembe by Sultan Hu, played The 13th Dream Of Dr Sardonicus Festival of Psychedelia in Cardigan, Wales, on Friday 7 August 2015.
A year on, and it was all change. Gavin released a cassette EP, “Suntan Priest Is Ours”, under the anagrammatical pseudonym Erupts As Intrusions. The four instrumental pieces here didn’t feature any conventional instruments and veered more towards avant garde / noise / musique concrète, but that didn’t prevent the tracks receiving some airplay! Later in December 2016 came another rare live appearance, a support slot to the Sendelica Drone Band. Spurious Transients for this performance was represented by Gavin playing a solo set triggering samples from a laptop while playing guitar or bass VI via a looper pedal.
Having had put Spurious Transients on hold for a couple of years while working on other projects, Gavin teamed up with Gail Storr in 2019 to work on new material. On Saturday 3 August 2019 they made a live appearance at The 17th Dream Of Dr Sardonicus Festival Of Psychedelia in Cardigan, Wales, hosted by Fruits De Mer Records. Performing as a trio, the line-up for this gig was Gavin Lloyd Wilson (bass, taishokoto, electronics), Gail Storr (vocals, guitar, theremin) and Andrew Lemmon (sax, clarinet). To coincide with the festival the band released a very limited lathe cut vinyl double A-sided single, “Vergesslichkeit”/”Remembering” which came together with a CD containing 16 bonus tracks from the archives.

For myself, I play bass, guitar, electronics, and outside of Spurious Transients I have been one half of instrumental duo The Spookers, have played bass for acclaimed spacerockers Sendelica and their offshoot The Sendelica Drone Band, and more recently played bass with local punk outfit Red & The Hogweeds.
If you are a local musician into experimental music, particularly the psychedelic, prog and krautrock genres, please get in touch. Maybe we could work together.
Especially interested in keyboard players, electronic music wizards, laptop-based musicians, sax, clarinet, flute, trumpet... A tasty guitarist wouldn't go amiss particularly if he or she knows who Michael Rother and Michael Karoli are and could also switch to bass when required. Drums?... You betcha!
