Singer/songwriter/producer seeks to branch out into live performance and touring etc with the help of dedicated band....and have some fun into the bargain!!!
Hello! We are looking for a keyboard player to complete the line up of Shame Lay, a local north east musician who has been writing and recording his own unique brand of deep, soulful, funky pop for the last couple of years.
At the moment it's me (Liam, drums, perc, xylophone) and Sam aka Shame Lay (guitar, keys, vocals). We are auditioning bassists at the moment and are close to choosing one to complete the rhythm section. Sam has been building up a steady fanbase for his songs through YouTube and has generated quite a lot of interest and following around Newcastle, particularly at the coast. We have been jamming together for a couple of months but we are obviously looking to include various other members in the very near future, namely a keyboard player and possibly a second guitarist.
Basically, Shame Lay has a fairly minimal sound and we try to concentrate on keeping things simple but tight. You don't need to be the technically greatest player ever to walk the Earth but being able to lock in with the over all sound and give it some "feeling" are definately in the criteria! Definately no room for show offs and shredders! Keep it simple, keep it tight.
Also turning up for practice on time and not hungover or worse is fairly important. Not to sound like a dictator, it's just we've had some bad experiences in the past! Hehe... We just need someone dedicated!
Anyway, we have a practice space and are looking to get a decent set together consisting of several full band numbers (loud, full drum kit etc!) and some stripped back, acoustic tunes (quieter, percussion instead of kit etc) to start gigging in the area and around the UK so flexibilty would be useful. This music has a lot of potential and will appeal to a wide audience and get us all gigs far and wide!
