Band to Join.

Since first being introduced to the drum set at 7 years of age, Roddy has had an enthusiastic and passionate approach to performing music. He was a part of the Berkshire Maestros (formerly Berkshire Young Musicians Trust) for 10 years where he played drum set along with various tuned and untuned percussion for many groups such as The Berkshire County Percussion ensemble, Dawsons Berkshire Brass Band and The Berkshire Youth Orchestra. Roddy has played in a number of prestigious venues such as the Royal Albert Hall, Windsor Castle and Reading’s Hexagon. As lead percussionist he has toured in France with the Reading Concert band and in Poland with Dawsons Berkshire Brass Band and The Berkshire Youth Orchestra. In 2010 Roddy was presented with the Alan Ganley award by drumshop entrepreneur Chris Wright and Moeller expert Andy Leask.

Through great perseverance and hard work, coupled with an insatiable passion for music, Roddy has achieved a distinction in grade 8 drum kit, merit in grade 8 music theory and a pass in grade 6 piano. Roddy most recently received a Bachelors of Music degree in Popular Music Performance, attained from one of Europe’s leading schools of modern music, The Institute of Contemporary Music Performance. It was here where he broadened his knowledge of composing, arranging and production, and established his own bands. In early 2012 Roddy visited Switzerland with post-punk band, The I.D., with whom he also recorded their E.P. along with several singles. His main band for whom he composes and plays drums for is Xylo (www.xyloofficial). A London based rock band made up of University friends, with whom he recently performed in Japan, and regularly performs around London. After having recorded their E.P., the band are currently recording their debut album.

As a versatile drummer, Roddy feels confident in many different styles of music, with experience in pop and rock bands, small jazz ensembles as well as reading for big band jazz groups and musical theatre. He has a huge catalogue of songs under his belt, having played around the country with function/covers bands.
