ABOUT

Versatile and adaptable 41 year old bass player, over 25 years gigging and recording experience, seeks band or others for entertainment, regular rehearsals, pub gigs etc. Interested in all kinds of music, but would like to play something quirky, original and a little out of the ordinary which isn't limited by genre. Currently playing in a good gigging rock covers band, intend to keep this going but would also like to play different types of original or covers material (more spacey, folky, funky, poppy, proggy or downright odd material) with others for fun and gigs in a relaxed yet purposeful (and ego-free?) environment.

Influences

As a bass player originally influenced by 80s Mike Mills (REM), Craig Adams (Sisters, Mission), dub, ska and tight funky grooves etc but these days also stuff with a bit more melodic mellowness (finally starting to appreciate a bit of prog in my old age) and as a musicianin general by anything with real live talent and a good groove from folk to funk to alternative to reggae to classic rock.

EQUIPMENT

Ibanez electric/acoustic bass, Peavey vintage 'through-neck' electric bass, Marshall 150 bass amp, Boss chorus, Boss compressor. Heavy picks, light fingers! Good work ethic, general 'dad skills' (sense of perspective and zen-like calm attitude in the face of all problems) and reliable own transport.
