The Successors of the Mandingue

Vocalist, Lead Guitar, Bass Guitar, Drums, Other Percussion, Trumpet, Saxophone, Keyboard, Trombone.

The Successors of the Mandingue Band has a rich West African musical heritage, coupled with N’famady’s musical experiences in the UK, which inspired him to bridge the gap between the diaspora and West Africa. The band was formed in Africa in 2017 by the Balafon player, percussionist, and singer, N’Famady Kouyaté, in the name of Les Hériter du Mandingue. Later, after moving to the UK, the band was reborn in the name of The Successors of the Mandingue.
The word Mandingue or the Mandingue people, comes from the ancient African empire, from the 11th century, where the griot (Djeli) or West African bards were responsible for preserving the history and the culture, and to transmit this through the generations.
