I'm a songwriter, lyricist and arranger with a small and basic home recording studio. I write/perform/produce everything on my demos at soundcloud dotcom/malcolm-macwatt. I play acoustic and electric guitar (lead & rhythm), dobro, fiddle and have a good ear for harmony backing vocals. I'm an active member of London band The Glass Mountains but I have the time, energy and songs for a Dark Americana/Alt-Country project preferably harmonising with a female voice. Civil Wars, Gillian Welch meets Willard Grant Conspiracy? Alternatively, I'd be just as keen to play/sing in an original soul-blues band along the lines of Southern Avenue, Susan Tedeschi, Gary Clark Jr.

I've had a long-term love for everything and anything country, however, I'm fairly experienced playing most guitar-based music including folk, rock, gypsy jazz, swing and blues.

More than enough!
Hillbilly FunkI shamelessly nicked the funk riff from an idea off my bandmate Mike Espie and slightly altered the timing to make it fit. The rest is Southern swamp-blues country rock.

Buzzing on the Good Times
Buzzing on the Good TimesI used to work on an oil rig in the middle of the North Sea miles from anywhere spending my time wondering what everyone was doing back home on the beach. So this song is for everyone who works away from home. Written & performed by Malcolm MacWatt 19.08.17 and recorded on a Zoom R24
StormboyAnother acoustic track that ended up with sampled drums on it. I'd never dare to put myself in the same league as George Benson but there's definitely an influence.
Using Him To Get Back To You
Using Him To Get Back To YouI wrote this for a female voice but sadly I don't know any country girls in London to sing it for me. Kind of a mix of country, soul and blues.
Blame It On The Goddam Rain
Blame It On The Goddam RainBluegrass inspired country tune written during two days of relentless rain. Needs some dobro and mandolin to finish.
Want You Back
Want You BackA love gone wrong song - always the country way!
Riots and Sunshine
Riots and SunshineI wrote some of the lyrics to this just after the 2011 London riots but never had a tune for it. London inspired the song but it could just as easily apply to Ferguson, Cleveland, Charleston or anywhere city tensions are running high.
In Love With A Zombie Girl
In Love With A Zombie GirlI've always been a huge zombie fan and imagined how someone might feel looking at his undead wife/girlfriend
Woman Shaped Heartbreak
Woman Shaped HeartbreakI wrote this originally as a country song but my wife liked this latin vibed version better so she wins.
SatelliteCountry rock/pop song.

Letting Go Lullaby
Letting Go LullabyVery simple little song about an anxious mother struggling to come to terms with her daughter growing up. For my wife and daughter.
Running Away From Home in a Stolen Car
Running Away From Home in a Stolen CarAnother song best suited to a woman singer. Basically about a woman stealing her ex's classic Mustang to escape a life of domestic violence.
Don't Want To Be The One
Don't Want To Be The OneCountry song about a guy who's in love with a girl who loves him as a best mate.
