I started the violin aged six, and grew up playing Irish music and singing traditional songs on piano and guitar. I am also classically trained and studied music at university, specialising in electronic composition. I am a composer and producer, writing under the name of Maebh and write folky songs with subtle electronics.
I have played and sung in a number of different bands, performing at weddings and festivals, as well as playing in ceilidh bands. I am very adaptable and can play in a variety of genres. I love arranging music, improvising and writing melodies.

FlowerI guess you could say this is about a woman falling in love with a perfect little flower that comes to life for a day. They have a glorious time and the song is about appreciating the feel of the sun on your face and being glad that something good has happened. 🧡🌸

Dreaming All Along
Dreaming All AlongReleased 31st May on Single Track Records Time trickles slowly With my someone somewhere else Oh and hopelessly, I glamourise, make it hard for myself. But you’re the only I imagine the special, only the best. I think of falling leaves, falling, fluttery down Outside in my yellow dress. And were we dreaming all along? I fear, and I wanna tell you but you’re gone. And we were lucky, we were wrong I live in my memories, it’s there I belong. You move so quickly Me I like the grain, I see fine in the dark. You behave so strictly On the world you feel you have to make your mark. But it is too shallow to swim Though it’s my reverie and I’ll write it in Out on the windy tops, the cliffy drops, am I better off? Am I breathing enough air in? And were we dreaming all along? I fear, and I wanna tell you but you’re gone. And we were lucky we were wrong I live in my memories, it’s there I belong
Indigo SkyThis is a song about letting your worries go as day fades to night Let it go to the indigo sky Any trouble gonna keep me alive The sun low, silhouettes delight Any worry let it fade into night Dazzling stars light years away, My sorrow, gave it up with the day Pitch black strike midnight, mystery Jupiter tells me that it's bigger than me https://maebh.bandcamp.com/track/indigo-sky
OlonaThis piece is about calm and commotion. Layers of ambient, synthesised sounds form the basis of the piece and these are made from recordings of the violin. They reflect a state of contemplation which we may feel when we are alone, when we allow our minds to rest. In contrast to this are soundscapes recorded in Morocco and Madagascar, two African countries where life is extremely communal. These soundscapes reflect everyday human chaos and our collective energy— recognisable and rousing sounds such as drumming, traffic and children’s laughter. The piece is entitled Olona, the Malagasy word for people, and it explores the impact that human interaction can have on our state of mind.

Maebh - The Moon & I (Prod. by ɴolαsco)Produced by ɴolαsco: https://soundcloud.com/nolascofoxx *Played on BBC Introducing!* This song tells the story of a man I met who spent 6 months in an Indian prison for a crime he didn't commit. After illegally leaving the country he had to cross Burma on foot, in a time of civil unrest. For 4 months he spoke to no-one and could be seen by no-one, sleeping in the day and walking in the night. https://www.facebook.com/maebhmusic https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iJVu-vw3tJM
