ABOUT

I moved to Exeter in 2019 and play keys, bass, drums but mainly lead, rhythm and acoustic guitar. Looking to form or join high quality Originals band in Exeter to jam, write and perform in pubs and similar venues and record. Also very happy to work with talented youngsters on songwriting and career development and provide backing for singers in duo settings. Needs to fit around heavy work commitments. Central Exeter home studio location near University. On Soundcloud under Cobster is a range of material I have written and recorded over the years covering rock, acoustic, pop and even musical theatre. People with interesting (and good) voices for live or recording could be good. I really enjoy songwriting and lyrics are important, even though often lost on a pub audience! Please get in touch for a chat.

Influences

I am interested in everything except electronic/dance/rap and REALLY heavy stuff. I listen to music that I can learn to play like Jeff Buckley, Gomez, Turin Brakes, Blur, Pink Floyd, Dire Straits. Queen, Stranglers, Skunk Anansie, Genesis, Prince, Damien Rice, Police,Marillion, Cash, Muse, Radiohead. I have been in cover bands for years, and whilst the odd party or pub gig knocking out the classics can be fun, I love the creative process more than playing Superstition again. I do music for fun so perfect partner(s) would be people wanting to meet once a week to write/ record /practice and do a couple of gig or open mics a month to develop an appreciative audience. I am open to all sorts and ages, but appreciate for live work a 50 year old bloke can look a bit weird with a young group! I also love going to gigs and looking forward to that happening again
