39 years old experienced jazz drummer based in London with an extensive experience in many genres and styles of music, both in studio and live.
More significantly, in recent years I went more into jazz territory and developed a very personal approach to groove.
I am currently looking for creative musicians (for gigs and possible record).
I am a creative player who prioritizes groove and sound over technique.
As a drummer, I particularly like to get "percussion like" sounds out of my kit using different techniques and combinations of acoustic sound effects (see below - Equipment list) but more significantly, I prefer to musically wave and swing around the various instruments, often playing off the beat and other times playing unison with other harmonic instruments, emphasising certain accents of the music.
I am particularly obsessed with details and dynamics when it comes down to drumming.
My approach and vision of rhythm is very personal.
My drumming is more of a language and an art form, rather than just cold "sterile technique".
It is communication, feel and expression.
I like to musically explore with no boundaries.
I am looking for similar minded people who are serious about creating something special.
Committed people ONLY !
The jazz "thing" MUST be in !

As a drummer my strongest influence is the early jazz (1930's pre war era) New Orleans "Dixieland / marching bands" drumming style.
I am also influenced by the later jazz drumming such as Be Bop as well as by African percussion beat (and Latin) which I incorporate into my drumming in a unique blend and, in a contemporary and modern kind of context.
My playing is an "unusual" and "unorthodox" mixture of these styles, but played in a rather extremely personal way.
- Other Percussion:
GRETSCH Catalina Jazz Club 18" drum kit (1 snare, 1 tom-tom, 1 floor tom and 1 bass drum with multiple cymbals)
ALL DRUM HEADS ARE TUNED VERY LOW
(for a more "dirty" sound and feel)
Plus additional percussion, including cowbells, traditional wood blocks, Vietnamese hand carved temple blocks, a ratchet, other customised ones specifically adapted for my playing and various acoustic sounds effects such as an old vintage honky horn, a traditional English ACME siren whistle, as well as a small camping metal coffee mug and, an old fashioned desk bell (all mounted on my drum set) played as extra "spicy" percussion.
ALL USED TO GET THE GROOVE AND SOUND I HAVE IN MIND
(it is ALL part of the language !!).
