I'm a bongos player (also cowbell and güiro of course). I'm looking to start a band playing son/salsa and/or Afro-Cuban jazz. The objective is paid performances. The easiest option would be 4 or 5 pieces: bongos, bass, singer and 1 or 2 others. Or no singer and concentrate on Latin jazz (in which case we definitely need tumbadoras and if possible timbales).
I know numerous songs we can do, I can participate in the arrangements and I can do backing vocals. I also have extensive experience of music promotion.
What I'm seeking:
Musicians who are familiar with Afro-Cuban music and/or jazz (i.e. able to improvise).
A singer who is familiar with salsa/son.
