Vacancy for female singer for a new band with GIGS IN THE DIARY - Vintage Blues / 60s Pop

New Blues / 60s Band - with GIGS IN THE DIARY

We are nice EX-PRO musicians, now in our sunset years!

London / Surrey . . . Middlesex Kent

For the past two years I’ve been running a successful six-piece 70s function band (Tangerine Scene - see Video in here or the below link)

This was was a business project playing the function market.

Now, four of us have started something a little different. Something where we can relax and just play in front of audiences who are appreciative of the genre and of our excellent playing . . . (not wishing to blow our own trumpet too loudly!!). Some of us had record deals back in the day.

We started this four-piece just three weeks ago, playing blues / rock / and 60s pop - well known material with a vintage blues groove that makes people dance. Our first gigs are arleady in the diary.

For the past few years we’ve been playing 60s/70s music note for note exactly like the original records for the function market. Now we want play music venues, pubs, and festivals; but with this band we are letting our own groove evolve naturally, still playing covers, but no longer having to fastidiously replicate them as we did for functions.

Rather than being a business project this band will focus upon on having fun and the joy of playing well. That said, given our history no doubt we’ll make a few bob a long the way!

I retired at 58 and so have the time to handle sales and marketing to get us work. However the band will decide material, gigs, direction and everything else together, democratically.

We have two outstanding lead guitarists and one of them is a great lead singer. The rest of us can’t sing a note (well a bit). So we are looking for a female who will share both the lead vocal role and BVs. You should be able to improvise and belt out rock, 60s pop and blues.

We are nice people; educated, no egos, liberal world view - we get along well and have a laugh - educated gentlemen one and all, in our late 50s early 60s.

Our aim is simply to play excellent music and play it really well - to create a great band that will draw growing audiences. The guitarists are excellent - audiences engage.

Gigs will be music-venues, pubs, private parties and festivals. If corporate functions come to us naturally, then that’s fine, but it’s not the objective.

We want to gig about once a month (sometimes twice, but no more).

We won’t need numerous arduous rehearsals - we’ve been playing together a long time. (E.g. werocked a music pub last weekend and opened with Canned Heat’s ‘Work Together’ having never rehearsed it or played it together before!) So we will rehearse every two or three weeks for a couple of months to get an interesting set nice and tight and thereafter just have run throughs before gigs as needed.

Once we have a full complement we’ll choose material together. We like the principle that if anyone says no to ANYTHING band-related, then the band doesn’t do it; without need of explanation or discussion. So, the future set will evolve democratically.

Currently we are playing . . . Cream, The Small Faces, The Faces, Rory Gallagher, The Kinks, Free, Eric Clapton, Badfinger, John Mayal Bluesbreakers, The Spencer Davis Group, Bad Company, Jimi Hendrix, T.Rex, The Beatles, Ike & Tina, Creedence Clearwater, Steely Dan, etc

You do not have to be local. Our band comprises people who live across 3 counties. However, rehearsals are at West London Studio in the Feltham area - very near to the M25.

On top of what’s on this profile There’s also some live footage of us playing a big-stage festival in the summer on YouTube. I can also provide links to past bands and albums going back eons - you know, reelin’ in the years!
