I am a violinist/fiddle player. I’ve been playing long enough now to forget how long I’ve been playing. I play gigs regularly. A lot of my gigging experience comes from accompanying songs that I have not played, and often heard before, and make it sound like it’s familiar. I’m fortunate that I have good musical chemistry with some of the musos I share stages with. Some of my style comes from bluegrass, some from jazz (perhaps) and some from a 20 odd year period when I focussed primarily on being a rock guitarist. I improvise, I read, I memorise and I listen. I’m looking for paid work with recording and with live duo/trio set ups that don’t depend on me every week (so I can fit my other bands in and still have a life) but can call on me to enhance their sound when it’s appropriate.
