About

I am primarily a drummer, but have some classical vocal training- and so am more than happy to do some backing vocals, or singing the odd song- although I'd prefer to be on the kit!

I am interested in playing Power or Progressive metal of any description: Soprano Operatic or Death vocals equally welcomed! I am not at all adverse to other genres if they are predominantly melodic or otherwise musically interesting. The more symphonic, the better!

I'm also interested in hearing from any single musicians in or around the Medway area, who may be interested in doing some collaborative song-writing and starting a new band with studio and gigging intentions.

Influences

I am primarily into Power Metal and Prog Metal- and am not adverse to the occasional well-placed growl (although my own voice doesn't suit this particularly well!) but to me melody and musicality is key.

To name a few bands I like: Symphony X, Nightwish, Sonata Arctica, Masterplan, Blind Guardian, Evergrey, Ayreon, Megadeth, Iron Maiden, Porcupine Tree and Dream Theater (although I can't compare myself at all to Portnoy!).

On the heavier side of my spectrum I'm also a big fan on Opeth, Dimmu Borgir and Wolves in the Throne Room- although while I do enjoy their epic scope of sound, I don't anticipate doing much blast-beating in any band I'm in!!

Equipment List

I have a full set of birch pearl drums and all associated hardware. At the moment, I'm using 10", 12", 14", 16" floor, 24" bass; but I have a second 24" bass drum and a 8" tom on order at the drum shop, to arrive hopefully sometime between the new year and Easter.

I use a full-metal selection of Sabian cymbals, and am slowly attempting to amass a collection of custom auxillary percussion.

When practising on my own, I swear by the Boss DB-30 Metronome, and so am not at all adverse to playing with a click-track in studio settings.
