44 year old Trumpeter / Singer looking for a pianist or guitarist to play jazz standards, ballads, blues, bossa, a little bebop and perhaps jazz takes on some pop classics. I guess this would particularly suit someone who wants to develop strong comping. I’m thinking I’d like to start this as a low key duo project to begin with and then hopefully grow it into a trio, quartet etc. It’s actually one of several musical things I’d like to get going (including my new original stuff which is a kind of crossover style). I’m in a time of my life with young children so I’m struggling to live the late night gig lifestyle of my former years due to lots of early mornings. So for now I’m looking to find some early in the afternoon or early evening jazz gigs.
I’ve been a pro singer / guitarist & songwriter for years. In my younger years I was signed as singer / sonngwriter to a BMG funded label. However for the last 10 years while I fronted a now defunct soul/pop function band I’ve also learnt to play the trumpet and focussed on learning jazz language and tunes as well as continuing to develop my own compositions. I even recorded an album and some vids of original jazz material around 2017. However, I don’t have much experience playing full sets of jazz live and this is something I really want to rectify. I have played at some jam sessions but I want to work through whole sets more and would hopefully like to get paid to do so.
