The Sunday Alternative is a secular community group, that among other things, use communal singing to bring people together, through well-known, generally, rock and pop songs.
We have a diverse band of differing skills from competent beginners to professionals.
As life returns to some version of normal we need to plug a few holes in our lineup. Our first priority is an additional guitarist/bassist and an additional singer. But we also need a second drummer and can always find a place for more unusual instruments.
* Requirements
You will be expected to learn between 2 to 4 songs a month (memorised). We are not looking for virtuoso performances but we should be proud of the overall performance.
The songs are arranged to suit the instruments and skills at hand that month. Musical resources will be supplied including backing tracks to practice with.
On months when we are musician rich then you may not perform on all songs or be given a minor role but there's typically always ways to include everyone.
You should have your own instruments.
The singer's priority is to lead audience participation rather than to create a performance to watch or to listen to. But if you can't hold a note or faithfully time your lyrics then things fall apart quickly. We have historically found female singers more adaptable over the wide range of songs we perform.
The band is for fun and we uplift the weaker players to create the best music we can. This is the perfect opportunity for someone wanting the benefits of playing regularly in front of an enthusiastic ( and forgiving) audience without the higher demands of a gigging covers band.
There will be 2 evening rehearsals a month (2hrs each) at Pirate Studios with costs shared by that month's musicians - a couple of quid typically.

The Assembly takes place at South Street on the 3rd Sunday of each month, with setting up from 9 am and performances from 11 am.
We are also looking for non-musicians to help run other aspects of the assembly too ...
