ABOUT

Them The Sky are a collective of close friends who all share a passion for music. They have developed their sound drawing upon influences as far-field as musique concrete to contemporary, shoegaze and ambient, which they utilise to create something unique among Brighton's eclectic music scene. Many of the band members have a strong musical background, from classical guitar to advanced music technology studies, allowing their sound to take influence from a range of genres. They use an array of instruments and techniques to create a style of music that combines catchy ambience, classical inspired melodies and driving drum beats. Their ideal gig would be The Postal Service supporting Sigur Ros.

After a string of highly anticipated and packed out shows at The Green Door Store, The Hope, The Blind Tiger Club, Camden Proud Galleries and NWfA Festival, the band released their debut E.P. available for free online and CD. Recorded in 'the attic' of their house, a place of experimentation, which hosts the instruments, equipment and atmosphere necessary to create their sound. What began as housemates enjoying spending the creative process together, gradually developed into a full live show with a distinctive visual experience.

The self-titled EP received an overwhelmingly positive response earning them the opportunity to play a number of successful shows including Meadowlands and Playgroup Festival, ArtNoise, SOURCE New Music and LOUT Brighton Rocks, as well as supporting EXITMUSIC and THE FRESH AND ONLYS for ONE-INCH BADGE. They have been The Argus' 'Download of the week' and had their song GSS played on BBC Introducing.

Recently they embarked on their most ambitious project to date, collaborating with visual artists over a series of weeks to create a spectacular sold-out, audio visual performance alongside contemporaries 'Phoria' and 'Written in Waters' for the prestigious Pop-Up Brighton 'Soundscreen' event at the Brighton Dome.

The release of their second EP 'Echolalia' at the end of last year, was celebrated with a packed out audio visual show at The Haunt, in collaboration with Brighton's Juice FM, followed by several shows in Milan, Italy.

''Them The Sky have an inherent ability to lift you with discretely dramatic crescendos despite the calm, shoegaze presence.'' - Brighton Source Magazine

“ChiLIVE's band of the week are post-rock giants THEM THE SKY. Beautiful soundscapes and hauntingly mature structures permeate their music. Moody ambiance and thoughtful construction remind us of some of the best of late Radiohead, and Swedish stars The Knife. Check them out; they're certainly worth it.” - ChiLIVE

"One of the most exciting new bands to come out of Brighton... with soaring Post Rock and Arcade Fire glimpses – ones to watch for sure." - Nice Weather for Airstrikes Records

"For those who like guitars, keys, and a little bit of post-rock ambience then look no further than Them The Sky. With their complex multi layered sound, they will bring you something unforgettable to listen to." - Art Noise
