ABOUT

Hi!

Email - andrew.j.t.clarke@ g mail dot com

My name is Andrew and I absolutely love Reggae, Ska, and Soul. I'm really wanting to get together with some other musicians who enjoy the genres and would be interested in just jamming really. At this point this is more something I just want to do as a hobby and to try and get to know some like minded people. Nothing too serious, just jamming some covers or maybe writing a few bangers, whatever really!

Any instruments would be welcome, but I'm mainly looking to be the bassist and maybe some guitar work. A singer, drummer, guitarist would be a great start but any brass or organ players would certainly fit right into what I'm hoping to do, but even if you play the accordion, the banjo or whatever, I'm sure we can get some cool sounds going!

Not sure where we'd hold sessions, my house is pretty well stocked with instruments (bar drums - I have a cajon and a few percussion bits) so happy to start here. All the usual refreshments you might associate with reggae are likely to be present... and you're free to bring your own if you partake!

In short, any chilled out people with a love of music, peace, justice and fairness around the Chesterfield area should just drop me a message!

Any singing in my music is mainly just for demonstration purposes - I'm no singer haha!

Get me on 07719263153 or Aindréas Callaghan on FB - or my band page is Quaju Peg & The Whippets (if Terry from Leicester reads my profile again, text me mate!!! Really keen chat about working together, but I don't have the paid version of this so can't reach out to you!!!)

I keep seeing people on here who'd be cool to get in touch with but I can't pay for this stuff so please just get me on FB!

Influences

Peter Tosh, Bob Marley, The Wailers, The Congos, The Specials, Marvin Gaye, Aretha Franklin, Sly and Robbie, Scratch, Otis Redding, Bill Withers, Etta James, Jackson 5, all Motown and Stax really. Going back a bit further I love Ray Charles, a lot of really early blues. I think you get the idea!

Not stuck on genres but a good place to start for the kinda band I wanna get going!

Outside of that, I love The Beatles, The Smiths, Oasis, The Clash, The Stone Roses, Suede, Blur, etc. I'm a big fan of Country to an extent, mainly older Outlaw Country. I love Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Kris Kristofferson, Merle Travis, Woody Guthrie, Hank Williams, and Dolly Parton is right up there, but I'm not having your gun toting right-wing nutter 'country'!

World music is a big influence for me, mainly Latin and Afro-Caribbean music. Cumbia is a top sound and any Cuban tracks will get me skanking (Buena Vista Social Club, Carlos Puebla, etc.)!

Irish Folk music is big for me as well (from an Irish family)!

I think it's obvious there's an inclusive and political slant to my music taste and I'd like to bring that through in my own music! Also obvious I'm a rambler, I swear I'm not this open in real life, I'm actually quite a shy and anxious guy...
