ANYWAY I WAS ABOUT TO SAY...

Hello, I'm Phil. Been playing guitar, and writing and recording my own tunes since a teenager. Played in a band (check video, me playing tele on the left) for 4 years. Kind of Bends-era Radiohead meets Mogwai stuff (post-rock/indie-rock), which I wrote and arranged the majority of the music for. The band kinda finished once I left Scotland to go to uni and since then I've had the itch.

I really miss jamming, have recently moved to Glasgow, so would love to meet some folks on here, and see what can happen. I'm happy to play lead, rhythm or bass guitar, or even piano (currently trying to teach myself). For a while I've harboured lots of band genre ideas. So, here goes:

1. A big SUFJAN STEVENS type group, with loads of different instruments.

2. A noisy, discordant, but catchy punk-rock group ala FUGAZI, HOT SNAKES, FOO FIGHTERS (first album), FARAQUET, AT THE DRIVE-IN, QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE

3. Power-pop group, like, I dunno, a hi-fi GUIDED BY VOICES (?) Just catchy, clever, poppy indie tunes, not too heavy.

4. A simple folk set-up, doing JOHN MARTYN, NICK DRAKE, SIMON & GARFUNKEL kinda stuff and covers perhaps. Basically, I need an Art Garfunkel for my Paul Simon (although I can't sing!). I like to arrange little renditions of songs on my classical guitar. Hopefully I'll get some filmed and up on youtube soon.

5. And finally, I've seen a few covers bands recently (my best mate plays in quite a sought after weddings band) and I'm always thinking of songs that I'd like to hear/cover myself (and also others too). Sooo...THE KINKS, THE KNACK, THE POLICE.
GUITAR, GUITAR/KEYS, BASS, DRUMS and ideally one of those singing (again, not me though!)

I've not got much music to show myself off particularly. Here's a collection of little (largely improvised) guitar ideas, which I did years ago, put up on myspace under the pseudonym "Manky Chinos":

It's been a while since I've recorded ideas, hoping to get up and running again soon.
