Numlocq started out in April 2005, Consisting of Sam Drake [drummer, ex Chilean Rose] Daryl Doblados [Lead guitar, also ex Chilean Rose] And Brett Stephenson [Im sure he is an ex something. Someones ex bf]

They did not have a bassist at the time as they thought it was not important, but they didnt think the music sounded right, so they spoke to David Murphy [me] and asked him to join as the bassist, I had only been playing bass for a short while, although I knew how to play one and understood the general purpose, but I never took any lessons. So after I joined I switched from guitar lessons to Bass lessons. I took about 5 or 6 lessons then I left school and had to cancel them.

Numlocq improved rapidly and played at a number of small private parties (even though they were all for the same person lol) Then, later, Sam decides he doesnt like Brett any more, for reasons still unknown to this day(that was in June 2005), then we employed a new drummer, Adam Sandler. AKA Spade. 1 week prior to our Debute gig, spade breaks his wrist skateboarding and cant play, so Bretts parents get in contact with Joe Woodruffs parents (Joe is an amazing drummer) Joe had just 1 practice session to get the drumbeats and he did.

So we played our gig, my bass was out of tune and everyone could tell and it was a disaster, I dont think a single song went right lol, but it was our first big gig. In october we played at Hiams social club in prickwillow and it went perfect. Joe is still our drummer
