ABOUT

An aspiring Jazz-trombonist from Preston in Lancashire.

I've played Trombone since the age of 9 and achieved my ABRSM Grade 8 at 17. I played lead trombone in the country Jazz ensembles from 2011-2019. I am currently a member of 3 big bands in and around Lancashire such as the Blackburn with Darwin Big Band, 16 men-swinging, Vernon Gallery Big Band and I've dep'd with the Jack Yerkess Big Band just to name a few.

I am looking to do more small groups, maybe some funk, soul or other small piece projects and broaden my horizons musically.

I’ve loved Jazz and Blues almost all of my life, however ultimately, I just want to improve and immerse myself in more genres, perform and spread the joy of music!

Influences

I've found inspiration from masters such as J.J. Johnson, Curtis Fuller, and Carl Fontana.

Whose playing continues to shape my approach to the instrument. But beyond jazz, I'm equally drawn to the raw emotion of blues, the infectious rhythms of funk, and the soulful melodies of soul music.

What I love most about blending these influences is the opportunity it provides for my expression and style. Whether I'm infusing a jazz standard with bluesy undertones, adding funk-inspired grooves to a soulful ballad, or incorporating elements of all three genres into an entirely new composition, I'm constantly discovering new ways to express myself musically.
