Im a full time student at college doing my final year of A-Levels. I have been playing bass as my main instrument for around 3 years, but i havent really had a 'proper' band that ive played in. I don't neccessarily mean serious, I just haven't been able to find people to hold even a basic level of commitment. I would like to find bandmates which are mainly available in the evenings and weekends to just jam around with and to see how the playing goes, possibly becoming more serious if things go well.
I don't listen to any one type of music in particular. Recently I have started listening to indie, such as Dirty Pretty Things, Arctic Monkeys, Klaxons, Razorlight, Editors, The Strokes, and Death From Above 1979. So I would cite these as influences.
I also play along to harder metal bands such as Iron Maiden, Megadeth, Children of Bodom and Motley Crue. I find that they are harder to play technically, but good for developing a better technique.
And a number of other band I listen are The Chillis, Audioslave, Rollins Band, and Muse.
I currently have a Conrad p-bass guitar which came as part of a starter package which I purchased around 3 years ago. My second and preferred bass is an Epiphone Thunderbird IV reverse body bass. I use a Laney R3 richter combo amp which comes in at 165 watts. I dont usually use many effects, but I have an Alesis BassFX multi pedal incase I want to have a different sound.
I also have an old Yamaha keyboard with limited sounds and effects.
