Great North Road have been together for a year and currently a 3 piece.
- The strength of this band are the very strong and melodic (ntly hooky) quality songs; which to date have mostly been written the singer-songwriter that fronts the band, called Jonny Webster (a university music graduate). However, Jonny is very open to other song writing contributors.
- Although the band plays the occasional "choice" gig, the current main purpose of Great North Road is as a very strong Song-Writing Unti - whose primary aim will be to sell songs to markets where they still appreciate good, melody-led vocal numbers: i.e. Nashville, the French chanson market. Both these markets have avid fans - numbering in the tens of millions - who still "buy CDs!"

Influences
We are very broad in terms of our influences, embracing everything from the Blues, TO quality Country (think Jonny Cash) to Country Rock (think Creedence Clearwater Revival and Lynard Skynnard) TO classic pop/rock as exemplified by The Beatles, The Doors, The Stones TO great singer-songwriters like: Bob Dylan (at his most melodic) Jonny Mitchell, Jimmy Webb, Doc Pomus. Leonard Cohen.
Despite the above we also love Jack White in all his incarnations, The Red Hot Chilli Pepers, Primal Scream, Kate Bush, Serge Gainsbourg, Air, Amy Winehouse, The Noisettes and The Killers. Oh, and U2!
