ABOUT

I'm a returning bassist having taken a break over the pandemic. I've been playing bass to a decent standard on and off for over 20 years. I'm also a rhythm guitarist.

I'm tentatively looking for musicians, groups, jams, bands to play with. I've worked in working covers/functions bands previously and most recently an originals project that recorded and gigged, but I'm genuinely not sure what my commitment level is as I dip a toe back into this.

Specifically I want to focus on something more pop, R&B, soul – modern with a bit of a grove and a vibe to it. Sure, I wanna get a room going, but after doing mostly rock projects in the past – it doesn't really play to my strengths and I don't think my ears can take any more of playing alongside loud drummers and Marshall stacks! So please, no rock/indie projects please!

I'm bang in the middle of Frome, Bath, Trowbridge and Bradford on Avon. I might go as far as Bristol for adhoc stuff/jams but I'm deffo not going to join a Bristol band – it's just too far to lug the kit on a regular basis and I've done too much of that before.

Standards wise – I'm decently solid, I'm a real bass player and not a 'failed guitarist'. I play finger-style and have strong, percussive, staccato style and love interesting rhythms. I'm not going to turn up and just strum along to pad the sound out.

I've headlined venues such as The Fleece and The Louisiana multiple times and have recorded at BBC Studios Swansea. I do not 'slappa da bass' unfortunately so if you want to do something funky, that's fine, but there'll no slap...

I have my own gig-worthy reliable gear and transport.
