I played violin with the London Symphony Orchestra and various similar outfits in the 80s. Drummer/fiddle/vocals with the Carnival Band since 1999, best known for Christmas tours with Maddy Prior. Was drummer in celtic group Chanter. Fronted own band, Blue Jewel, 2011-14. Blue Jewel Ceilidh band continues, much in demand, www.bluejewel.info. I am now also available as a caller for ceilidh dances.
I am a song writer and arranger.
I have recorded numerous CDs and DVDs with Maddy Prior and the Carnival Band. My own band, Blue Jewel, released a CD, Dart Songs, in 2011. Second album, John Smart's Bottle, 2015.
