I started learning to play the acoustic guitar as I entered high school. I also began to teach myself my favourite songs on my electric guitar at that time. After 3 years, I quit lessons and carried on teaching myself. I've been a part of several high school bands; only one which I have gigged with though. I'm fairly confident on the rhythm guitar, and also on bass - I enjoy playing lots of Muse bass riffs. However, I'm considering going in for lessons again to improve my soloing and lead guitar skills. The bands that I've been in have mainly played heavy metal, but I'd like to join a band with the same influences as those listed below. I can contribute some stuff of my own, but I would prefer to join a band which already has some of its own songs written.
