ABOUT

A squalid jazz/rock combo that currently dispense with the concept of 'singers' in other words A MUST SEE LIVE ACT.

Leicester band Evil Dick and the Banned Members are enjoying a revival. The band recently played at the Zappanale Festival, which takes place each year in the small German town of Bad Doberan, situated near the Baltic Sea, just below Denmark.

Evil Dick and the Banned Members were formed in 2001 under the direction of Richard Hemmings. The band's initial forays into the world of avant-rock caught the attention of former Wire music critic and author Ben Watson who sighted them as being the finest pata-physical prog rock unit since the early days of Soft Machine.

HOWEVER, their current set comprises music to get you DANCING; an eclectic mix of shuffles, easy listening mambos, boogie numbers, modern jazz, improvisation, salsas, reggae, all bound together with driving rhythms and an ultra tight horn section.

"Gold, gold, gold. (The Wire)

"[Evil Dick] are the finest pata-physical prog rock unit since the early days of Soft Machine." (Resonance FM)

You'll have to change your name if you're going to be on my label. (Robert Lloyd - The Nightingales)

Glorified lift music after three cans of Red Bull (Leicester Mercury)

jangling, sonorous, driving, appealing, wonderfully ?wrong? music (The Wire)

Influences

We're mainly looking for a guitarist who would rather sell his soul to the devil than be in a covers band. Not that we've anything against cover bands or the people who play in them, just that we want something a little more unique.
