Recently moved back home to Scotland, after 12 years away. Before that, I played in various club bands around the Ayrshire & Central Scotland area.

Over the past few years I've mainly been doing fill-in and studio work, as well as writing some material of my own.

Absolutely LOVE playing live. I am happy playing cover versions or original material, but prefer original stuff.

I'm a VERY easy guy to get along with, as long as the music is good, and the band is fun to play with :-)

I have managed to resurrect the last band I was in back in 1996, and we are playing the pub/club/wedding circuit. I'm also doing fill-in work with other bands.

I would, however, be very interested in getting together with some other musicians to try and develop some of the material I've been writing over the past few years. There are draft recordings of some of the earlier songs on here, along with some cover versions (just for good measure). The tracks are not that well-produced, by any means, but they are good enough to give an initial representation of each song. I hate recording on my own and normally, as soon as I get a first version down and roughly mixed, I tend to lose interest and move on to something else. I really think that the material would benefit from some creative input from others. I'm not married to any of these recordings and I'm very open to changing stuff if it makes it better :-)

Here are some details on the tracks...

COVER VERSIONS

When you Say Nothing At All (Don Schlitz & Paul Overstreet)

'39 (Brian May)

Mother (Roger Waters)

Crossroads (Robert Johnston)

* Lead Vocal: Catherine Lee

The Flame Still Burns (Mick Jones, Marti Fredericksen & Chris Difford)
- This one was from the film "Still Crazy", which is a must-see for any musician :-)

Influences:

My main influences would be Eric Clapton, Joe Walsh, David Gilmour, Brian May and Angus Young. That's not to say I strive to sound (or play) exactly like any of them, but I probably incorporate elements of each of their styles now and again, depending on the type of music I happen to be playing at the time.

When playing cover versions, I don't spend a lot of time trying to capture the original artists tone. I much prefer to put my own interpretation into each song.

Like everyone else, I've always been looking for that "signature" sound. However, its difficult to achieve when you're not really sure what "that signature sound" is, and I'm still not sure I know. I'm just happy to continue discovering and learning new things that can improve my playing, and my sound, even after 30 odd years of playing music :-)

Equipment List:

Guitars:
- Fender Stratocaster (with EMGs)
- Fender Stratocaster (with Lace Sensors)
- Fender Telecaster
- PRS Standard 24
- Martin Acoustic

Amps:
- Mesa/Boogie; Marshall; HiWatt

I generally use the guitar & amp combination that's best suited for the band I am playing with on any given night.

Effects:
- Keeley Compressor
- Keeley-modified TS-9 Ultra
- Keeley Katana Boost
- Analog Man Chorus
- Boss DD-7 Delay

I'm a big fan of Robert Keeleys products and pedal mods. His own effects are absolutely amazing and he can do wonderful things to Boss and Ibanez pedals to make them sound good. He replaces the cheap crappy circuits inside each pedal with high quality parts, which sound great and stop them from killing your tone.
