Hi there. We are Athelstone, a Progressive Rock band originally formed in the tiny island of Malta, however from now on we will be looking to operate in the London area (I, the guitarist and songwriter, already live here, and the drummer and other songwriter, Matthew, will be coming to live here soon). Basically, we are looking to take this project far, and are very ambitious about our goals. However, in order to get the ball rolling, we need to start playing live gigs, probably starting with the UK and then hopefully even taking it to an international level as time goes by). We can promise that if we find the right people, we will be doing all we can to share the music with as many people as possible. Over the last year, we have written and recorded a full length album, playing most of the instruments ourselves (with the exception of the bass guitar).
For this reason, we need to find musicians who will be able to play the recorded songs with us in a live contest, so that we may start promoting ourselves, widening our fanbase, and basically getting our name out there! Eventually, if the chemistry is right, songwriting collaborations on future songs will be most welcomed! The music is greatly influenced by both old school and modern progressive rock and metal bands, as well as post-rock, jazz, funk and fusion. Who we need:
- KEYBOARDIST (a crucial position due to high presence of hammonds, mellotrons and synth effects and pads in our songs),
- second GUITARIST (mostly for rhythm/harmony work)
- someone who can play one or more of the following : vibraphone, saxophone, cello AND/OR someone who can play any of these instruments in conjunction with guitar or keyboards
- vocal ability an added bonus
